Did you sell the business?

Absolutely not!  We still own all of our stores, are opening up a new store in Baytowne Plaza in Webster in a few weeks, and plan to acquire more stores in the area.


What is a franchise?

A franchise is a business in which the owners, or “franchisors”, sell the rights to their business logo, name, and model to a third party operator called “franchisees”.  In our case we have been given permission to use Pet Supplies Plus logos, name, business model, and certain products in operations of our stores.


Are you still locally owned?



Will we still see the same staff in your stores?

 Yes you will see the same great team as before, with some additional team members!


Does this affect your donation of free pet food to local shelters?

Not at all! We are dedicated to our shared community and excited to continue our local shelter feeding program with Lollypop Farm Humane Society of Rochester & Verona Street Animal Society, Host SPCA Adoption Centers and our partnerships hosting adoption events with local rescue groups! The continued growth of our business will allow us to do even more!


Why did you do this?

Frankly, we were very happy with business and our brand with plans of expansion...  We got a call late last Summer from PSP about the possibility of converting our stores to franchises.  We met with their team and WOW!, we were blown away by their business model and shared commitment to both pets and people.  After looking at our potential doing things on our own and the potential as partners, it was a “no brainer” that we collaborate and become partners.


Will you still carry the same great products and pet foods?

Yes! We’ll still be carrying all of the popular brands that your pet’s enjoy.  We have eliminated some slower selling products off of the shelves but in most cases we can special order items that we don’t normally keep in stock.


Will you still be carrying items from your Lucky Dog Bakery?

Yes! Demand for our locally made fresh baked treats has gone through the “woof” and we are thrilled keep up with the demand!


What will be different about the stores?

We’ll be “branded” differently representing the Pet Supplies Plus name.  You will see a huge increase in new products, the You Click We Fetch program which allows you to order on-line and pick up at the store, we’ll be adding grooming, fish, and small animals to some of our stores, a fantastic loyalty program, better pricing on many items, huge monthly sales, and increased adoption and other events.


Will you carry many of the economy pet food brands that you don’t carry currently?

Yes!  We highly recommend the brands that we have carried at Pet$aver.  However 80% of pet parents use other brands.  It is our hope that by attracting pet parents who use “economy” brands that we haven’t carried in the past that we’ll have a chance to talk to them about great nutrition and hopefully have them consider something healthier for their pets.


What about my Loyalty Points?

With each renovation we are excited to launch the new Pet Supplies Plus Preferred Pet Club program.

What is the downside to this change?

Frankly, on the business side of things we’ll be changing our relationships with many vendors who have supported us through the years.  Many of these people from manufacturers, distributors, and other local suppliers won’t be servicing us personally any more.  Many of these people are long time friends.  That won’t change but our business relationships will.  Fortunately we will still be a locally ownedcompany who will still support OUR shared community in many ways.


What do I do if I have any questions?

First of all, go to the Pet Supplies Plus website and sign up for the Preferred Pet Partners Club.  That way you will be entitled to all of the discounts and programs that we have available.  You can assign yourself to one of our stores and browse what products that we have.  Secondly, visit us as we change over our stores.  Our Webster store will re-open on January 22nd as a PSP, Brighton on February 12th, our new Baytowne store will open February 14th, Victor on March 6th, Orchard Park and Williamsville some time in March and April, and our Greece store in late May. You are also welcome to email me at with your questions.  I’ll do my best to get back to you ASAP.


What can we expect for the future?

I’m so excited about the future of our stores that I can’t contain myself!  Besides adding and acquiring more stores some time later this year we’ll be adding local delivery!  

We’ll be adding more Vet services and we’ll be fostering more relationships with local pet professionals and organizations.  This is a great thing for Rochester and Buffalo!

Again, we are very excited about this new opportunity to be the best locally owned pet supply retailer for you, our neighbors in Western New York.  We look forward to many years of servicing our community and taking care of your pets.  We cant wait to see you in our stores!
